Hour 1:
Public health officials tell president that 500,000 hospital workers should be immunized against smallpox, but no one else. Americans should not even be allowed to choose to get smallpox vaccinations even though last time Americans were immunized against smallpox, of 14 million vaccinated, only 9 died (and 7 of them were below 10-years of age). Public health officials combine extreme risk-aversion with hubris.

Hour 2:
In the New York Times "Ethicist" column (New York Times Magazine 10.27.2002), a woman describing herself as a feminist asked the ethicist, Randy Cohen, if she should tear up the contract she signed with her real estate agent. She writes that the man had been competent and courteous, but he would not shake her hand because, as an Orthodox Jew, he is not allowed to touch a woman he is not married to. Cohen said that she should tear up the contract because this is sexual discrimination and it is as bad as racial discrimination.
