"Ahnold" Is In
Movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, pulled off a major media coup yesterday. Last night on The Tonight Show he announced that he was entering the race for California governor after convincing everyone over the last month that he wasn't going to run. It all makes for great political theatre, but what does Arnold stand for? Being against "special interests" is not a platform. Biggest concern: how liberal is he on social issues?
Don't compare Arnold to Ronald
The former President of the United States had a lot of experience in public forums before he ran California governor in the mid-sixties. He had been president of the Screen Actors Guild and delivered political radio commentaries. But Arnold's inexperience does not necessarily work against him. He may make a great politician. One big point in his favor – he loves America.
The State of Civilization
Guest: Paul Johnson, pre-eminent English historian and prolific author. His best-selling books include A History of America, A History of the Jews, and Modern Times: The World from the Twenties to the Nineties. (First aired on July 9, 2003).
